Body Liposuction Sydney
Removing stubborn fat from a variety of areas of the body, liposuction can target localised fat deposits that can be hard to reduce through diet and exercise. The procedure can be performed on the chin, neck, arms, stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, calves and more. Sometimes, more than one area can be addressed during the one procedure.
Liposuction is designed to remove areas of stubborn fat, as opposed to being a weight loss procedure. Therefore, suitable candidates should be at or close to their body weight goals for best results.
Performing liposuction for over 20 years, Dr Jeremy Hunt is an experienced Plastic Surgeon offering the procedure in Sydney. Details of the procedure, including how the procedure can be performed and the results that can be achieved, are discussed during a consultation with Dr Hunt.

Suitable liposuction candidates
Ensuring your suitability for liposuction is essential for preventing procedure risks. All surgeries can be associated with certain risks and complications, and may have contraindications as to who should undergo the procedure. Since liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, candidates should be at, or close to, their body weight goals. Suitable candidates should also be non-smokers, not currently pregnant or breastfeeding and not have any serious health conditions that can delay the body’s healing after surgery. Ideally, liposuction candidates will have realistic expectations for the results of the procedure, and understand the importance of following preparation and aftercare instructions. You will be assessed for your suitability during your consultation and discuss what makes a suitable candidate in further detail.Steps of the procedure
Each liposuction patient will have a different list of procedure steps, as each procedure is highly personalised. Liposuction needs to meet each patient’s personal needs, such as individual features and desired results. During your consultation, you will discuss the details of your procedure, allowing Dr Hunt to determine a sufficient approach to achieving your results. You can discuss the details of anaesthesia, your chosen hospital, incision placement and more.Procedure preparation
You may need to follow some important instructions before your procedure to ensure your suitability for the surgery and to help prevent complications from occurring. Like the steps of the procedure, preparation steps are also personalised, tailored to the details of the patient’s surgery. Preparation instructions can include quitting smoking, stopping taking certain medications and supplements, and taking pre-operative tests.Recovery information
Your recovery advice will also be personalised, closely considering individual factors such as health and lifestyle. Recovery steps are put in place to encourage your body’s healing, protect the treated areas, manage your comfort levels and prevent complications from occurring. You will discuss the potential risks and complications of liposuction during your consultation and how these risks can be minimised. Recovery instructions may include to quit smoking, pause certain medications or supplements, avoid strenuous exercise, care for incision sites, take some time off work and attend post-operative check-ups to monitor healing.Costs information
A highly personalised procedure means that a one-size-fits-all approach to costs is not possible. Therefore, all candidates will need to receive costs information after discussing the details of their individual procedure. Costs can be influenced by the complexity of the procedure, the number of areas being treated and the total procedure time. You can receive a personalised quote during your consultation and ask any questions you may have about costs.Quick Get in Touch

The Body Liposuction Procedure
The procedure is designed to remove localised fat deposits. Depending on your personal preferences, your surgery can focus on areas such as the chin, neck, arms, stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, calves, or a combination of treatment areas.
Depending on the details of the treatment area and your individual needs, liposuction can be performed using the techniques suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) or ultrasound-assisted lipectomy.

- Your desired outcome
Recovery after liposuction
What to expect
After liposuction, you may experience some pain, discomfort, swelling and bruising in the treated area. Typically, compression garments will need to be worn at all times for three days before you are able to shower, and then worn for a further two to three weeks. You may then need to continue wearing the compression garments at night only for another two to three weeks.
You may be prescribed pain medication to help manage discomfort. You’ll need to follow some important recovery instructions to help minimise the chance of complications occurring.
As for physical activity, patients are generally able to walk on the day of the procedure, but should keep activity levels low for up to one week. The general rule is to avoid raising your heart rate above 100 beats per minute for three weeks after the procedure. Patients may then be able to resume activities as normal by week six, depending on Dr Hunt’s personalised recommendations.
While you may notice some changes in the treatment area immediately, swelling will need to subside and the skin will need to sufficiently contract before results can be fully visible. The length of time it will take for results to show will vary from patient to patient, but typically takes about two months.
The overall time it can take to recover from liposuction will depend on the areas treated and the complexity of the surgery. It’s important to discuss your individual situation during your consultation to help manage your expectations.
During your recovery, you may be instructed to attend post-operative appointments to have your healing progress monitored. You will be able to ask any questions you may have during recovery.

Costs of liposuction in Sydney
Costs of liposuction at Aesthetic Edge will depend on:
- The areas you are treating

- The complexity of the procedure
- Total procedure time
- The type of procedure you will undergo (suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) or ultrasound-assisted lipectomy)
- Your desired results
All of the above factors will be discussed when finalising a personalised procedure plan. During your consultation, you will discuss your medical history and personal goals, as well as have your desired treatment area assessed. This will help to calculate your procedure costs.
Your procedure costs for liposuction will include:
- Surgeon’s fees (for Dr Jeremy Hunt)

- Hospital fees (these fees can depend on your chosen hospital)

Medicare
Medicare may partially cover the costs of surgical procedures that are medically necessary. Typically, liposuction is not performed for medical reasons and will not be eligible for Medicare cover. However, if you believe that the procedure may be medically necessary, you can discuss further details during your consultation or contact Medicare directly for more information.
Combining procedures
As well as targeting more than one area of the body, a liposuction procedure may be combined with other surgeries.
Candidates who want to combine procedures will need to undergo a thorough assessment to ensure their suitability for the added procedure. Combining procedures will influence recovery time, procedure time and total costs. The option to combine procedures may be beneficial for patients who want to use additional methods to tighten skin in the area. Excess skin can be present in the desired treatment areas, which may need to be surgically removed. The need for excess skin removal can depend on the patient’s skin type, age, the amount of fat being removed and individual healing physiology.
Procedures that may be combined with liposuction can include:
- Rhytidectomy (Facelift)
- Platysmaplasty (Neck Lift)
- Abdominoplasty
- Back Lift (typically for back liposuction or 360 liposuction)
- Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)
- Thighplasty (Thigh Lift)
- Breast Lift (if liposuction is performed on the breasts)
If you think you may benefit from combining liposuction with another procedure, please discuss this with Dr Hunt during your consultation.

Preparation and recovery instructions will also be put in place to help support a successful surgery and outcome.
